JV

The Cougar’s JV Football team opened the 2019 season on the road against Churchill. In front of a great crowd of numerous Cougar supporters, the team was energized and ready to compete. QB Daniel Moore started the game with an offensive drive that showed the nifty moves of RB Tracy Robinson and tough running of RB Ray Resendiz. Robinson scored the first touchdown for the Cougars on a sixty-yard run. K Hussein Hussein made the PAT to bring the score to 7 – 13 Chargers at the end of the third quarter. QB Luke Childs completed first down passes to FB Carson Rogers and TE Cameron Adams to keep drives alive that led to a touchdown pass to WR Robert Braggs to bring the score to 13 – 20 midway through the fourth quarter. The JV defense played well throughout the game, forcing three takeaways and holding the Chargers defense to multiple three and outs. NG Tyreke Gunthorpe led the Defensive Line, disrupting the Churchill inside run. OLB Julian Contreras led the Linebacker group with two sacks, one forced fumble and multiple tackles. CB Kymani Paulino led the Defensive Backs with great run support throughout the game and a critical pass break up. Unfortunately, an attempt for a late rally was unsuccessful resulting in a final score of Clark 13 – Churchill 20. The Cougars plan to bounce back this week as they take on the John Jay Mustangs Thursday September 5, 2019 at home. Go Cougars!

Freshman

A-Team

The Cougar’s  Freshman Football team opened up with a tough loss to Churchill. The Chargers were up 14-0 at half and held off the cougars with a final score of 22-12. The Cougar’s special teams made a big play to set up their first score of the game. Offensive linemen Edward Seofje and Ricardo Ramon opened up a huge hole for a Chris Goertz touchdown run in the 3rd quarter. Another touchdown run was added by Bryce Moreno in the 4th quarter, but that would be all of the scoring for the Cougar’s the rest of the night. The Cougar defense had solid performances by Ben Gibson and Victor Onyenagada.  The second game of the night was also a loss to the Chargers 12-0. The top performers for the Cougar’s were Nicholas Lee, Nolan Beck, Diego Facundo, and Quintin Ware. The Cougar’s look to bounce back against John Jay this week.
