Clark vs O’Connor 10-24-19

JV

The Cougar’s JV Football team played at O’Connor this past week. The offense was able to put together positive drives with impressive running from QB Jaden Bonilla. The defense played well with great effort and energy. The Cougar Defense put pressure on the Panther passing game all night. LB Julian Contreras (2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 8 TFL) and DE Michael Culbertson combined for a tackle in the end zone resulting in a safety and 2 points for the Cougars! LB Carson Rogers and LB Jake Morales both had 6 tackles a piece. DL Tyreke Gunthorpe (2 TFL, 1 fumble recovery) and DL Micah Nash (3 tackles) aided in stopping the rushing game. DB JP Koch and DB Eddie Arroyos (1 Interception) led the secondary. The Cougars JV football team continue to battle and improve each week.

Freshman

The Clark Freshman A team continued their district winning streak with a 21-6 win against O’Connor on Thursday. The cougars had another solid performance from the offensive line. E. Soefje led the way with 7 pancake blocks.  D. Alexander threw a touchdown pass to B. Gibson, and C. Goertz and V. Onyenagada both had rushing touchdowns. The cougar defense played another great game. O’Connor threw the ball more than most freshman teams, and D. Alexander and C. Valenciano both stepped up with pass defenses. The B team game was called in the 3rd quarter and the score was 0-0. Both defenses played great games, and the cougars were driving when the game was called after a long pass from N. Lee to Q. Ware. If we revert back to old tie-breaking system the cougars would have won the game on penetrations, but the game will go down as a tie. The cougars play Holmes this week.
