Sub Varsity Vs. Canyon 10-1-2020

JV

The Clark Cougars JV Football team opened up the 2020 season on the road this year against the New Braunfels Canyon Cougars. The Clark Defense played with great effort all game as Diego Facundo (LB) and Jaydan Douglas (LB) led the team in tackles. Douglas also forced a fumble on the first play of the game which was recovered by Matthew Collins (LB). Nicolas Lee (DB) had a key pass breakup that almost resulted in a turnover for the Clark Defense. Jacob Cipriano (DB) had some key plays with tackles both on defense and special teams. The offense struggled to maintain drives but bright spots included the play of Kyle Junkin (QB) who connected with Nolan Beck (WR) on a few passes including a 35-yard reception on fourth down to keep the drive alive. Diego Alexander (WR) also added a nice catch along the sideline for a big first down for the Cougars. Jackson Phillips (RB) carried the load for the Cougar’s run game, as he fought for every yard on each carry. The Clark Cougars will play home this week against the Reagan Rattlers. Go Cougars!

Freshman

The Clark Freshman football teams both lost to the Canyon Cougar  Freshman teams on Thursday. One of the highlights from the game for the B team was a 60 yard run from running back A. Hodges. The defense played hard and will continue to improve. The A team offense had 2 scores from running back K. Ramon, behind great blocking from the offensive line. N. Henderson was all over the field making big hits on defense and special teams. The cougars look to get back on track in their first district game this week against Reagan.
