Sub Varsity Vs. Reagan 10-10-2020




The Clark Cougars JV Football team played their first home game this past week against the Reagan Rattlers. Offensively, the cougars made noticeable improvements as they were able to maintain drives and gather first downs most of the game. The offensive line’s: Odysseus Carter (LT), Anthony Ruiz-Aviles (LG), Austin Navarro (C), Jacob Navarro (RG), Adam Hernandez (RT) progress showed as they played tough throughout the game in pass protection and the run game. As a result, Jackson Phillps (RB) was able to rush for big gains on multiple plays including a 20-yard run. Nicolas Lee (QB) was also able to connect with Nolan Beck (WR) 60-yard touchdown run after catch. The pair hooked up again for the two-point conversion. The Cougar Special Teams was led by punter, Diego Facundo and deep returner, Diego Alexander. The Cougar Defense played with great effort and energy all game. Kedrian Mack (LB) and Diego Facundo (LB) led the defense in tackles, including two quarterback sacks by Facundo. Diego Alexander (DB) had two key pass breakups from his to help keep the Reagan receivers out of the endzone. Matthew Collins (DL) helped anchor the defensive front as he played the entire game and added a couple of solo tackles himself. The Cougars JV Football team will play at Brandeis next week. The Clark Freshman football teams both lost to the Regan Rattlers on Saturday. The “A” team game had some tough running from RB L.Goertz behind solid blocking up front by D. Vanegas and L. Meridith. The defense played hard and M. Davila had an interception that he returned 30 yards.  The “B” team offense was highlighted by making several completions from QB D. Kuri to WR J. Davila. The big hit of the game came from a block that FB J. Benavidez made to pancake a LB. Both teams look to bounce back with wins next week against Brandeis.
